LASUTH Hosts 2nd Annual Memorial Lecture In Honour Of Late Sir Mobolaji Bank-Anthony

‎The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) Hosted The 2nd Annual Memorial Lecture In Honour Of The Late Sir Mobolaji Bank-Anthony, Who Donated The Well Renowned Ayinke House To The Lagos State Government In 1990. The Lecture, Themed “The Role Of Artificial Intelligence In Assisted Reproductive Technology: Revolutionizing Fertility Treatment For The Future,” Was Held On Wednesday, 19th November 2025.

‎ ‎The Event Had In Attendance Members Of The Bank-Anthony Family, Top Management Of LASUTH, Medical Practitioners From The Obstetrics And Gynaecology Department, And Senior Government Officials.

‎ ‎In His Welcome Address Delivered By The Director Of Clinical Services And Training, Prof. Adebowale Adekoya, The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Adetokunbo O. Fabamwo, Said The Lecture Aims To Recreate Awareness Of The Philanthropic Nature Of 'Sir Banks" Who Stood Out As Someone Who Gave Generously To The Poor. He Described Ayinke House As A Remarkable Vision That Ensured Quality Obstetrics And Gynaecology Services In A Dignified Environment. He Added That The Event Serves As A Reminder That Good Deeds Are Celebrated Long After One’s Lifetime.

‎ ‎Representing The Family, The Granddaughter Of The Deceased, Mrs. Funmi Bank-Anthony Olaniyan, Praised The CMD As An Epitome Of Intelligence And Assured The Hospital Of The Family’s Full Support.

‎ ‎The Head Of Department, Dr. (Mrs.) Ottun, Gave A Brief History Of Ayinke House, Describing It As A Story Of Philanthropy And Excellent Maternal Healthcare. She Noted That It Was Gifted In 1990, Named In Memory Of Sir Bank Anthony’s Mother, Alhaja Rabiatu Ayinke Aleshinloye-Williams, And First Commissioned On April 14, 1990.

‎ ‎ Dr. Lateef Akinola, The Guest Lecturer, Explained The Concept Of Artificial Intelligence And Its Relevance In Healthcare. He Described AI As Computer And Machine Technologies Created By Humans To Support Learning, Comprehension, Problem-solving, Decision-making, Creativity, And Autonomous Functions Without Human Emotions. He Outlined Its Benefits, Including Precision, Improved Decision-making, Early Disease Detection, And Enhanced Efficiency. He Highlighted AI Models Such As Supervised, Unsupervised, And Reinforcement Learning, As Well As Deep Learning, Neural Networks, And Creative AI. He Concluded With Future Potentials Including Data-driven Services, Secure AI-driven ART Clinics, Genetic Disorder Prediction, Early Intervention, And Personalised Care.
